TO ALL MEMBERS | ||||||
It is with deep sadness that we have learnt of the passing of Mr Alan Benton Alan was the secretary of the European Eightball Pool Federation for more years than we care to remember. Alan was a leader and led from the front. His expectations were very high and he always demanded the same level of high standards from those around him. The European Championships are one of the best run championships in the world, this doesn't just happen by chance. Alan's dedication to detail was the main reason for this continued success. Alan was world rules through and through and he gave a big chunk of his life promoting the game we all love, for this we will be extremely grateful. His dedication to pool all his life was unprecendented and he has left us all a legacy to build on. Our thoughts and prayers are with Beryl, his daughters, family and friends at this sad time. May he RIP. On behalf of the EEPF
Corona Virus Update | ||||||
Dear Members, We hope you are all keeping well and safe in these increasingly trying times. After carefully assessing the current situation around Europe, the Executive Committee met via Skype on October 22nd and came to the following conclusion: The 2021 European Championships has been deferred to 2022. The event will be hosted by Ireland at Killarney. Provisional dates, subject to conditions, are as follows: Prices previously quoted for 2021 will be held subject to VAT in Ireland at that time. The AGM date will be advised and will take place during the scheduled dates of the 2021 event. The 2023 event will be scheduled to be played in Malta. As previously advised, tenders to host the 2021 UK and Ireland Championships to be submitted at the 2021 AGM Kind Regards Alan Benton
Statement from the EEPF
Dear Members, On May 26th the Executive Committee held a meeting on Skype, we discussed upcoming events and what action should be taken. The decision was to consult the members proposing a possible EEPF event to be held in Ireland in November 2020. An email was sent to all members asking that if an event was available would they attend, the deadline for answers was June 5th at 23:59. 1 country replied they would, 3 countries replied no, 1 country that did not respond had already withdrawn from the World Championships. None of the remaining countries replied with an answer either way. The final outcome is that the next EEPF event will be the European Championships in Ireland during February 2021, providing conditions at that time allow. We hope that you are all staying alert and well and you are all complying with the rules. There will be further updates should conditions change. Kind Regards Alan Benton
